Great peace

Great  peace have those who love your law; nothing can make them stumble. (Psalms 119:165)

Praise The Lord. Welcome to the house of The Lord. It is our prayer that you may indeed find the presence of God enriching and rewarding even as we seek His face collectively in worship.

The Psalmist expounds a profound truth in the inspiration of the Spirit. There is the reward of great peace for those who love the precepts and laws of The Lord. A second blessing is that such people will never stumble in life.

Peace is not simply the absence of strife but calmness and serenity and courage in the midst of insurmountable problems. Jesus speaking to His disciples said that in this world they shall have troubles. With the coming of sin in our world there is no possible world without the traces of a sinful context. Sin is pervasive and we see the resultant chaos and disorder in our world due to that. In such a chaotic world we can experience peace and the Psalmist says that we can have " great" peace.

The " great" peace is available for those who love the Law of The Lord. The testimonies of The Lord and His promises give the assurance of "great" peace. These resources of The Lord carry within themselves the potential of great peace. These resources point to us the character of our God who parts the sea to make way for His people. They tell us the story of a people miraculously saved by the mighty hand of God. They encourage us to trust in the mighty acts of God from the days of old. They also tell us that this God can be trusted no matter what the circumstance be. When we encounter such a God, we are constantly reminded that God will never leave nor forsake those who have made a covenant with Him. It is these stories from the lives of people just like us who lived in the past that gives us hope and faith to hold on and thus we experience a " great" peace.

Once, we come to grips with such a God, the second blessing is automatic. We can trust in this God and thus we shall never stumble in life. The moments of life could be despairing and disappointing. But those who love the law of The Lord and more importantly love The Lord of the Law/testimony will begin to trust and depend on The Lord for their existence. They will be renewed and rejuvenated with " great" peace and they will remain strong in their faith. It is our prayer that may the Almighty grant us grace to depend on The Lord and His Word so that we may experience the peace that passerby all understanding and never stumble in the passage of life.
